In July, 80 local people aged 6–88 will join professional creatives to bring to life an original production on the Kiln stage. Showcasing their stories and unlocking hidden heritages, our Intergenerational Company will celebrate Kilburn’s past and present, and the many communities who call it home.

Across the UK, only 14% of over-55s engage with other generations and 40% of 16-25s report higher levels of loneliness than ever. In our home of Brent, where 1 in 3 live in poverty, social isolation and deprivation go hand-in-hand. Many residents lack access to creative experiences, opportunities for connection or community support. Our Intergenerational Company offers a safe, joyful space for local people of all ages to unlock their creativity, strengthen belonging and celebrate their stories.
Our Intergenerational Company will bring together 80 local people aged 6 to 88 to meet weekly, explore their creativity and devise an original production, which they will perform in July on Kiln’s main stage. By enabling participants to showcase their own stories, bring different heritages centre-stage and celebrate Kilburn’s diverse communities, the project will strengthen social cohesion across generations, reduce isolation, and foster a sense of connection and pride in our vibrant local area.
