SPOKEN WORD POWER (SWP) tackles the lack of fully funded opportunities for the most underserved young people to enjoy fully expressing themselves, especially those with Special Educational Needs or who speak English as an Additional Language. One third of young people report having little or no confidence (Listen Up Report 2025), undermining their ability to express themselves, engage creatively and speak out. This project tackles this head on.

This amazing project will send 3 Spoken Word Poetry Artists into 3 Hackney schools to deliver 5 weekly inspiring poetry writing & performance workshops; a whole school poetry Slam event, expert training for local teachers and a celebratory West End poetry showcase (prev. event footage: http://bit.ly/3LSjqoc). By filling clear curriculum gaps for local Hackney children, SWP aligns with our aim to inspire & empower children to express their voices and realise their full creative potential.
