Disability Arts Online found that 76% of disabled people face barriers accessing arts activities, whilst Arts Council England reports learning disabled people are significantly underrepresented as both audiences and professional artists. The consequences are profound. Learning disabled adults experience isolation rates three times higher than the general population, and lack opportunities for creative expression, skill development and social connection.

Prism Arts provides creative opportunities for learning disabled and neurodivergent people in Cumbria who face systemic exclusion from mainstream arts provision. We deliver creative workshops in visual arts and performance from central Carlisle and in SEND units, schools and colleges. Our work centres disabled artists' independence and removes barriers through individualised support. We provide exhibition and performance opportunities, paid creative commissions, and pathways into arts employment
