The Horton is an independent arts venue attracting 35,000 visitors last year. We offer a high-quality arts programme but receive no core funding. We want to provide more accessible, creative opportunities for children and young people – with a programme of activity specifically designed for them.

The Horton is a free to enter venue and numbers increased over the summer when we opened our gardens for the first time. There are many disadvantaged children and young people locally, who would like to and would benefit from participating in creative activities and attending performances but we cannot meet the cost of programming these events without prohibitively expensive ticket prices.

Over the next year we want to focus on providing more accessible, creative opportunities for children and young people – with a programme of activity specifically designed for them. This will include an outdoor summer programme – including ticket prices subsided through fundraising, and opportunities for creative talent development for young people who have left school.
