We would like as many schools in Kirklees to experience a live music performance to inspire the children to learn a musical instrument. After the performance they would be able to have a try on the instrument and meet the tutors who will help then to begin their musical journey.

Across the Uk there is now a national shortage of children learning to play a musical instrument and a significant drop in students taking A level music in particular (45% decline since 2010).. In order to tackle this, we need to inspire more children to learn an instrument in order for them to develop the skills and knowledge to take GCSE and A level music. This will result in more students taking music at degree level and going on to join professional orchestras.
We aim to inspire as many children as possible to learn to play an instrument. Initially by showing the children the various instruments and also by facilitating the children to have a go at making a sound on them. If a child would then like to try some lessons, we can again facilitate some free sessions for them to Give It A Go. If they would then like to continue, we can work with the schools, parents and charities to make this happen. We can loan instruments for free to help with costs.
