Across Africa, albinism is shrouded in myths and superstition. Since 2006, over 850 people with albinism have been attacked, including more than 240 murdered, across 30 countries. Ostracised and hunted for their skin colour, they are routinely excluded from healthcare, education, and employment. They face a life-threatening skin cancer crisis, chronic poverty, and the persistent threat of stigma and witchcraft-motivated violence.

We address the complex challenges faced by people with albinism through holistic programmes in healthcare, wellbeing, education, and livelihoods. Our work includes tailored support for survivors of violence; operating the world’s largest clinical networks for low vision and skin cancer prevention specifically for people with albinism; relocating children from segregated institutions to inclusive schools; training young adults through apprenticeships; and giving them the tools to succeed.
