For 30+ years, we have championed emerging artists, amplified diverse voices, and built community through bold new theatre. In 2026, we’ll commission and programme powerful new work exploring urgent social issues, deepening connections between local audiences and a new generation of theatre-makers.

We believe everyone has the right to make and experience theatre, whatever their background. Yet the percentage of working class theatre makers has halved since the 1970s, whilst those experiencing additional marginalisation are paid less and face more career barriers. Underrepresentation on stage restricts who gets to inform new work, and limits opportunities for people to experience its benefits, such as improved mental health and education attainment, and reduced isolation and loneliness.
We’ll support a new generation of artists from underrepresented backgrounds to create bold new work rooted in accessibility and community connection. Through free rehearsal space, commissions, artistic mentorship and public platforms, they’ll reach and inspire new audiences historically excluded from theatre, whilst gaining critical business skills and networks to build sustainable careers. This programme underpins our plans to grow family engagement and deepen local audience relationships.
