At Tushinde, we have been doing this for a generation. The families that have successfully graduated from our programmes prove that it works. Please join us in helping strengthen families, save lives, and providing a form of holistic support that can be replicated across Kenya and beyond.

Over 300k people, many thought to be under 30 years old, call the informal settlements in the Mathare Valley their home. Families and children living here experience extreme poverty. 57% of the children within the area are believed to experience malnutrition with HIV prevalence in adults estimated between 6% and 21%. Both education and medical care is an extreme challenge, due to high costs and being unattainable for those living in poverty. Basic human rights are not being met.
Tushinde work with local clinics and schools to provide comprehensive support. The life of a child coming to our care is in turmoil. Through qualified social workers and a developed care model, we address crises to prevent trauma or illness, and we help families during their crisis. We then work with them to create a safe, nurturing and stable environment for the children, offering holistic care to stabilise and strengthen families to self-sufficiency in all aspects.
