Our Early Intervention Service for Young People is a mental health and wellbeing service for 11 to 18 year olds. This service gives young people the skills to understand, protect and improve their mental health. We help children, young people and adults to get well, stay well and thrive.

The number of young people being referred to specialist mental health services in Kent and Medway has risen by more than 28% in two years. However, getting young people the support they need at the time they need it is a system-wide problem. Where we work in West Kent, twice as many young people are waiting for support compared to other areas in Kent and Medway. This can affect young people's friendships, confidence, and even school attendance. Prompt, effective support makes a big difference.
We will extend our person-centred Early Intervention Service which offers fast, effective support to young people in their school or community using a tested toolkit rooted in evidence-based techniques and resources. Our support is accessible and adaptable to diverse needs. It aims to prevent mental health challenges from escalating if there's a long wait for support, to build resilience, and teaches young people personalised coping strategies and the importance of seeking help.
