To support the re-instatement of Underfall Yard, a scheduled listed monument on Bristol Harbourside further to an arson attack in 2023. This includes creating a space to engage the public (we attract 120,000 visitors per annum), with the endangered craft of wooden boat building.

Underfall Yard has played a central role in Bristol Harbour since the 1880's. It is an example of world-leading engineering (under Brunel / Girdlestone). Bristol Harbour's role has evolved away from commercial shipping to recreation and leisure. In 2023 the Yard was subject to a devastating arson attack destroying 40% of the space used to house traditional boatbuilding. As we recover from the fire we seek to ensure that we adapt our buildings to reflect modern day harbour use.

In replacing Shed f4 whist respecting Grade 2 listing we are seeking to make non-like-for-like replacements which reflect present harbour needs. It's essential that we retain space to house traditional boatbuilding as this was listed as an endangered skill in 2023 (with lack of space cited as a reason for its decline). We want to build further our public engagement and heritage interpretation. F4 will become a mix used space where boatbuilding will exist alongside public / community workshops.
