88% of 18–24s in the UK report loneliness to some degree contributing to rising mental distress, with a recent report finding that UK 15 year olds were the unhappiest in Europe. Meanwhile, interest in arts and heritage is declining, cutting young people off from vital sources of connection and expression. Yet heritage and cultural engagement are proven to reduce distress, build confidence, and improve wellbeing—especially among young people.

We’ll create a series of free creative events, workshops and social spaces where teenagers can explore art, film, music and heritage through tech—including gaming, VR, digital storytelling and collaborative installations. We’ll blend popular culture with local identity to spark curiosity, self-expression and community. Young people will co-design parts of the programme, giving them agency, voice and a space to belong.
