The Global Botanic Garden Fund (GBGF) supports botanic gardens worldwide in conserving threatened plants, restoring ecosystems, and protecting biodiversity. We will fund urgent plant conservation projects in the world’s most vulnerable regions—where biodiversity is rich, but resources are scarce.

Almost 40% of plant species are at risk of extinction. Botanic gardens are on the frontlines of plant conservation—but many lack the funding to act. Botanic gardens in high biodiversity areas—especially in the Global South—face several key challenges in accessing funding, despite being on the front lines of plant conservation. Many smaller or regional gardens are overlooked by international donors in favour of more established institutions.
The Global Botanic Garden Fund enables real, lasting impact by supporting: seed banking and propagation of rare species, restoration of native forests and habitats, training and resources for local conservationists, community outreach and environmental education. These are small grants with big impact with a long-lasting effect on the gardens.
