Attending a traditional theatre can be a daunting experience fraught with barriers for children with disabilities. Opportunities to perform and get involved backstage are also limited. Physical access, travel and cost all pose challenges. However, one of the main problems is a lack of understanding and inclusion. Children with disabilities are constantly expected to adapt and conform to mainstream services. This can lead to frustration, stress and disengagement.

Our project will provide a multi-sensory, interactive show based on Greek mythological tales, linked with our YouTube Learning Channel film, ‘Odie’s Odd Odyssey’, reaching over 3,000 children. The project will provide a stress-free space for children with special & additional needs to experience & enjoy the theatre, widening participation in the arts. Alongside the project we will also run our work experience programme for three Special School students to gain skills to use in later life.
