Families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy face overwhelming emotional trauma—especially at diagnosis, as the disease progresses, and during major transitions like loss of mobility. Parents are often left without psychological support, and boys living with Duchenne face depression, anxiety, and isolation. NHS mental health services are overstretched and inconsistent, leaving families to cope alone with the devastating impact of this life-limiting condition.

Through our Chrysalis Grants, we provide £1,000 to fund private clinical psychology sessions with experienced professionals who understand the impact of Duchenne. These grants are deployed quickly and flexibly to meet the urgent needs of families—whether at diagnosis, during disease progression, or in crisis. We offer vital, specialist mental health care where NHS services are unavailable, overstretched, or delayed.
