UK songbirds are in real danger, and that danger is growing by the day. Over 50% of the 84 songbird species that breed in the UK are now at risk, with populations facing long-term declines. This includes species most of us think of as ‘safe’, such as starlings and house sparrows, as well as species that are now rarely seen or heard, such as greenfinches and mistle thrushes. We need to tell their story and ensure we don't lose them forever.

Our goal is simple: protect UK songbirds through scientific research, awareness, and action. Our Action for Songbirds Fund means we can finish the important scientific research projects we already have underway and start new projects, so we can protect the most at-risk species before it’s too late and populations crash. Armed with scientific evidence, we can drive the behaviour and policy changes needed to halt songbird decline and help them thrive again.
