You will help fund PramaLife's 18 support groups for people living with dementia and 10 support groups for family carers. Participants will experience better health and well-being and receive the support they need to mitigate the impact of dementia, as one carer said: It’s been a life saver for us.

There is no cure for dementia and the disease affects every aspect of a person’s life and their family carer; people can struggle with what were once straightforward tasks like making a cup of tea or washing themselves. Carers feel frustrated and isolated (many carers experience a deterioration in their health and well-being as well), whilst also recognising that their loved one is feeling the same because of their dementia. Seeking a diagnosis and accessing services can be complicated.
The aim of PramaLife’s groups is to mitigate the impact of the dementia and provide support to both the person with the dementia and their carer. We use a range of exercises to prompt long term memories (which can still remain strong) and stimulate the use of cognitive skills, including videos, sound, pictures/photos, music, textures and aromas. For carers we focus on facilitating peer group support which is much valued and highlighting other support they can access.
