While, for most, Christmas is a time of celebration and abundance, with the cost-of-living crisis taking its toll and foodbank use at an all time high, for so many families, Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time, both financially and emotionally. Our Christmas Meal brings the community together – made possible by volunteers and donations – and offers support, generosity, and joy to families when they need it most.

Each year, WYZ (supported by dozens of local volunteers) hosts a special day for families experiencing hardship. On 23rd December, around 250 local people, from babies to grandparents, gather at the Youth Zone to enjoy a three-course Christmas dinner with all the trimmings! Children enjoy Santa’s Grotto, crackers, games, crafts, and a festive disco. After the event, we deliver gift and food hampers to each family home, using items generously donated by our business community.
