Local children are facing difficult challenges, and some need more support than others. Our nurture groups help children build their resilience and confidence to face life, even on those tricky days. With your support we can give more children space to grow.

Windmill Hill City Farm is in one of the 20% most deprived areas of England. Local children are experiencing a range of challenges, whether that’s a lack of access to green space, difficult living circumstances, language barriers, trauma or struggles learning at school. Some children need more support than others so that they don’t fall behind, especially around the crucial ages of 7-11 years. Many need extra space and time to connect to each other and nature to thrive.
Our nurture groups offer a familiar, safe space for local children to slow down and enjoy being in nature. Whether planting, painting or caring for animals, each activity helps children express themselves, connect with others and experience life outside their comfort zone. We work with local schools to offer free places to children who need them most. Demand is growing rapidly. With this funding we will set up a new weekly nurture group and run 22 sessions for 12 children aged 7-11 per session.
