Many girls in rural Uganda struggle with basic maths due to poor teaching, lack of resources, and gender bias. We’ll equip 30 schools with learning materials and support girls’ maths clubs to boost skills and confidence.

In rural Uganda, girls struggle with maths due to poor teaching, few resources, and gender bias. Only 19% of P4 pupils master division. Teachers lack training in inclusive, child-centred methods. Girls often face discouragement at home. Without action, the gender gap will grow, limiting their futures.
We are training 120 teachers in 30 rural schools to use gender-responsive, learner-centred maths strategies. To support this, we'll provide 15,000 slates and chalk, and train communities to make low-cost learning aids. These tools will support effective maths teaching and girls’ clubs, driving long-term improvement.
