Most people killed in armed conflict aren't properly recorded - they are simply erased from history. We can prevent this. By documenting every casualty we can ensure their names live on, their loss is acknowledged, and those reponsible are held to account. We can be witnesses, not bystanders.

Tens of thousands of people lose their lives to armed conflict each year, and most are never properly identified or documented. They leave a gap which only grows with time - families cannot grieve properly, war criminals cannot be prosecuted successfully, communities cannot be reconciled. Without casualty records, whole families and communities are erased from history and buried by silence. Without casualty records, there is no evidence. Without evidence, no justice. Without justice, no peace.
Every Casualty Counts runs a global network of independent casualty recording organisations, working in conflicts across the world. We provide them with training, support and resources to help them document casualties as accurately and comprehensively as possible. We also work with the United Nations to support and improve casualty recording practices in peace operations and human rights investigations. We work with global leaders to increase investment in casualty recording worldwide.
