This campaign will fund "I AM" a peer-to-peer patient support group for ACLT's community of blood cancer patients and their loved ones. We will provide a safe space to share experiences, access therapeutic workshops and social events, and help patients prepare for treatment appointments.

A key part of ACLT’s work is supporting blood cancer patients and their families from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. We’ve often seen a lack of support and resources for people of Black and Global Majority heritage: from delayed diagnoses caused by misrecognised symptoms to having less chance of finding a donor for a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant. Many patients tell us they’ve felt alone or wished they had the chance to talk to others also living with blood cancer.
We will grow ACLT's patient services by launching a peer-to-peer support group for people affected by blood cancer, including patients, friends and family. Members will include those newly diagnosed, in treatment or recovery. The group will focus on people of African, Caribbean and Global Majority heritage, many of whom are still searching for a matching donor. Our "I AM" programme will help members feel seen beyond their diagnosis through tailored clinical support and access to social events.
