In eastern Africa, 62% percent of farmers are women. They are the backbone of Africa’s farming workforce, but life for women isn't easy. Female farmers do not have the same rights or the same decision-making power as men. They balance intensive farm work with childcare and domestic duties, often going unpaid. On top of this, the challenges of climate change and global economic instability are pushing a disproportionate number of women and children into poverty.

Farm Africa unlocks female farmers potential by: Teaching women climate smart farming techniques to improve soil, crop yields and biodiversity Teaching women business skills Helping women form savings and loan groups to invest in each other's businesses Helping women gain access to land Holding training sessions at times when women can attend Supporting women to run businesses from their homes Encouraging women to join cooperatives and take up leadership positions
