48% of Tower Hamlets children live in poverty. Families face rising costs, overcrowded homes and scarce green space - among the UK’s lowest. Parents are under increasing pressure from rising costs and long working hours struggle to find time to play and engage meet children’s emotional needs. Our work tackles play poverty, supporting children and their families to reconnect, play together, build resilience and create brighter futures together.
We’re tackling “play poverty” and rising family stress head on. Our free nature play and wellbeing sessions give over 300 children space to explore, create and have fun, while supporting parents to connect and recharge. We lead two outdoor play sessions per week (whatever the weather) for children and parents to play, get messy and explore the natural world around them. Den building, gardening and preparing outdoors meals are just some of the ways we help families reconnect.
