Many elderly people in rural Romania live alone, with no family nearby and they have limited access to services or companionship. Isolation and loneliness significantly increase the risk of depression, anxiety, and health deterioration among the elderly. While home visits and community activities help, there is a need for a simple, accessible, and continuous service that allows lonely elderly people to connect with a friendly voice and share their worries.
RFFR in partnership with FSC, our partner charity based in Bacau will provide funds for a dedicated telephone helpline staffed by trained volunteers and social workers. The helpline staff will provide emotional support and signpost to callers to local services which support elderly people.
