Significant numbers of children enter the care system each year due to a family's inability to provide a safe, stable environment, for a range of factors. This is devastating, with far reaching implications. ‘Recurrent care proceedings’ are where mothers have more than one child taken into care at different times. Research shows some mothers swiftly enter court proceedings with a subsequent child after a prior removal, largely due to a lack of support, advice and advocacy for their needs.
1:1 support works to address the root cause, ultimately helping to reduce the number of children entering care and needing family assessment. Non judgmental, trusted practical and emotional support, guidance, and access to community resources, helps reinforce the positive change achieved by parents leaving assessment. Many have limited or no support, are impoverished, or prone to exploitation due to additional additional needs. 1:1 delivers a needs based approach, goal setting and confidence.
