We aim to reintroduce white stork, pine marten & Eurasian elk. This appeal will support the first phase of our species reintroduction programme. We will work closely with communities to enable more people to take action for nature, creating wildlife-rich places where wildlife & people can thrive.

Nature is declining rapidly & many people feel disconnected, facing mental health struggles & climate anxiety. A wildlife-rich world is vital for our wellbeing, with 1 in 5 adults in England having a common mental health issue (Mind.org). We are among the most nature-depleted countries in the world. Abundance of species has declined to 17% of its 1970 levels & more than 1 in 10 UK species are at risk of extinction. For nature to recover, we need more, bigger, better & connected space for nature.

Our programme will reconnect people with nature by bringing back lost key species — white stork, pine marten & Eurasian elk — to Derbyshire’s landscapes. Through community engagement, volunteer-led wildlife monitoring, and habitat creation, we’ll revive thriving ecosystems that support biodiversity and will support improving people's wellbeing. This approach will create lasting benefits for people and nature for generations to come.
