Link Age Southwark's vision is for friendly local communities where older people and those living with a diagnosis of dementia can thrive. Our services include social, exercise and activity groups. We provide transport for those whose health issues would make independent travel too complex.

In Southwark, 40% of pensioners live alone, and 1 in 5 residents aged 90+ have three or more long-term health conditions. These factors contribute to the prevalence of loneliness and isolation among older adults in the borough. Many of the people we support live alone, or have caring responsibilities that prevent them from interacting with others. They can lack the confidence, mobility and finances to attend activities that might improve the social connections that are vital to our wellbeing.

Our activity groups are free to attend and provide older people with the chance to socialise with their peers, to exercise and to express themselves creatively. We know that the community connections these groups facilitate, and the physical and cognitive stimulation they provide, have a lasting effect on older people's health and wellbeing. We offer transport and volunteer Travel Buddies to help older people overcome any confidence issues and to ensure our activities are inclusive to all.
