This festive season 600 young adults UK-wide will receive the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disabling, progressive neurological disease. ‘Since Christmas Eve when my doc said "I think we're looking at MS" I feel like my life, my body and brain have been hijacked and no longer mine.’ Newly diagnosed people with MS (“MSers”) face higher risk of isolation, mental health issues and even suicide. The lonely diagnosis journey can only be understood by others who’ve navigated the same path.
Shift.ms is a digital-first charity, founded by MSers, for MSers, with a focus on reaching the newly diagnosed. We provide vital group and 1-to-1 peer support, to help MSers navigate issues, such as coping with a diagnosis, treatments, and symptom management. Together, our community of 38,000 MSers UK-wide provides connection, shared lived experience and mutual support, to help newly diagnosed MSers take control of their health. Our services are available for free, 24/7 via the Shift.ms app.
