We fervently believe that classical music, created using historically informed techniques and period-specific instruments, has a quality and transcendence that contemporary practice and instruments simply can not convey. We will record these works for AAM records, and the audio will also be made available for free on streaming services. There are currently no recordings on AAM Records of the compositions that Mozart created for the basset clarinet, this project will fill that gap.

We will commission Katherine Spencer, our principal clarinettist, to perform these pieces. Mozart composed these works with his friend the clarinettist Anton Stadler, in mind. Katherine will use a newly constructed instrument that is faithful to Stadler’s original design, we will release the recordings on AAM records and also for free on our digital platforms. The project will allow audiences of all backgrounds and means to engage in a fresh and reimagined way with these great works.
