When nature flourishes, people flourish. Research shows that nature has a positive impact on wellbeing, and the more biodiverse the space, the greater the impact. A Rocha UK is creating access to flourishing natural spaces, vital for slowing down biodiversity loss and supporting good wellbeing.

1 in 4 adults expected to experience a mental health problem each year in England alone. “High Quality” (meaning rich in biodiversity - plant life and wildlife) natural spaces are proven to positively affect our wellbeing, yet access to nature isn’t available equally. Added to that, UK biodiversity is at risk, with studied species in the UK have on average declined by 19% since 1970, and most of the important habitats for the UK’s nature are in poor condition.

A Rocha UK supports over 21,000+ acres of land to be managed for nature through its Partners in Action programme and reserves, creating access to biodiverse spaces for 250,000 people each year. Partners and reserves facilitate young people groups on their land, men’s mental health and growing groups, guided prayer retreats, ‘Bug walks’ and other events to encourage curiosity in fun ways. We know that those who connect with nature report better wellbeing and will also care for it.
