Once again, we have seen homelessness rising in Woking and the surrounding area this year: some of our services have seen record-breaking demand. It's the 30th Christmas that our charity has been here, helping those in need and ensuring no one is alone on the streets this winter.

Homelessness has continuously increased since the pandemic. In the last 2 years alone, 1 in every 250 Woking residents have approached us for support. The cost of living crisis, high local rents & reduced statutory services have exacerbated the usual causes of homelessness (family breakdowns, mental illness, complex disadvantages). Every day we encounter people who need our help, else they have to sleep another night on the street; or lose their long term home; or don’t know how to carry on.
We offer 3 key forms of support to all our clients: a Bed, a Base & our Backing. Our Outreach team are often the first to engage with anyone rough sleeping in the area; 1 York Road is our ‘direct access’ accommodation, with 10 beds available to anyone who needs them; our Resource Centre is a valuable safe space with showers, food & clothing for anyone sleeping rough; our Support Services team work with clients beyond homelessness to ensure they never have to return to the streets.
