We believe that every woman, no matter who or where they are, should be able to access the medicines and healthcare they need, especially during pregnancy and childbirth. Good health is also fundamental to a child's future. It underpins their ability to attend school and to flourish in adult life.

Every day, over 700 women die from pregnancy and childbirth complications—90% in low-income countries. More than 13,000 children under 5 die daily, mostly from preventable diseases. These deaths are not inevitable. With the right medicine and care, most are preventable. When a mother dies, the impact is devastating—leading to child deaths, lost income, and deepening poverty.

IHP is committed to increasing access to life-saving treatment for those who need it most. We source high-quality, long-dated donated medicines directly from pharmaceutical companies, including those used for preventing and treating the most common and preventable causes of maternal mortality and birth defects. We safely deliver these to trusted in-country partners. These medicines help remove the financial and other barriers that too often stand between women and the treatment they need.
