Since 2016 premature death rates from cardio-vascular disease (CVD) have begun to rise again. This highlights the need for a renewed drive to prevent CVD deaths, which account for 1 in 4 of all deaths in England. CVD’s cost to the UK economy (including premature death and long-term care) is estimated to be £28 billion each year. Most CVD cases are preventable as risk factors, such as obesity, physical inactivity, smoking and drinking can be reversed through exercise and education.

Our Staywell primary prevention will combine clinical assessment, monitored exercise and health education to raise cardiac fitness in 55 patients with high risk of CVD. Our highly qualified health programme team assess clients for weight, waist size, blood pressure, heart rate & wellbeing, coupled with an exercise test to establish fitness. Exercisers follow a tailored programme of 20 sessions of supervised exercise to improve cardiac fitness and reduce their other risk factors.
