Aspiring creatives are suffering more than ever from the cost-of-living crisis. Students from working class and low-income backgrounds are in serious need of funding to access professional training and keep the arts as a viable career path for all. In 2024, more students than ever before declined their places at Mountview due to financial circumstances and the cost of living in London. We are at risk of losing rich diversity in the creative industry due to lack of representation and funding.

Your 80th Birthday Fund donation will scale up two existing initiatives: our Scholarship Fund and Judi Dench Fund. To ensure the greatest impact, we award needs-based scholarships with amounts tailored to each student’s financial circumstances. In 2024 we were able to award £281,150 but the need was far greater. The Judi Dench Fund awards Emergency Grants for students and funds mental health and wellbeing support, including free counselling and learning plans, accessed by 160 students in 2024.
