Zoos mislead the public with claims of conservation and high welfare. Our research shows a different story - animals suffering in captivity. Our analysis of over 250 zoos in Great Britain, found less than 18% of their species are threatened, over 24,000 threatened animals died in a year, and very few endangered animals released into the wild. Zoos offer no real conservation value; we want the public to know and choose ethical alternatives.
We will use our latest research to create impactful media campaigns that expose the truth behind zoo industry claims. Through exposing how animals suffer in captivity and highlighting legal failings, we will support grassroots groups, and communities to drive local action for public outreach and call for publicly funded zoos’ closure. By promoting true sanctuaries and inspiring the public to embrace ethical alternatives, we aim to shift society toward a world beyond captivity.
