We all remember cuddling our favourite bear when we were young and the comfort it brought. The CBC provides primary school aged children with a comfort bear to keep. A bear can ease stress, help a child talk to about their feelings and cope with their grief, bringing hope for the future.

All the children and young people we work with have experienced trauma due to the death or terminal illness of someone important to them. As a result they are more likely to have behavioural problems, change schools or be excluded, have a lack of concentration, have difficulty making friends and struggle with anxiety or anger. Bereaved children are extremely vulnerable to mental health disorders as they may be confused and upset by what they are feeling, but are unable to understand why.
The CBC provides early intervention support for children and young people, age 3-18, who are experiencing life-changing trauma due to the death or terminal-illness of someone they love. We offer a range of specialised expert support to suit individual and families’ needs including one-to-one counselling, play therapy, filial therapy (for the whole family), workshops and peer support groups. We seek to improve children’s and young people’s health through helping them to understand their feelings.
