We are aiming to raise £5,000 this festive season to help bring joy, exhilaration and friendships of skiing and snowboarding for disabled people. £5,000 would help provide 160 adaptive snowsport lessons at our centres in the UK.

Activity levels of disabled people often fall short of both their potential and their desire for greater physical engagement. Within the snowsport sector, only 4% of disabled people in the general population are involved with skiing or snowboarding, compared to 16% of non-disabled people. Barriers to taking part include lack of accessible facilities, lack of adaptive instructors and adaptive equipment. As a result of this, disabled people are denied the joy and health benefits of snowsport.

Our charity exists to address the barriers to participation in snowsport. Disability Snowsport UK’s vision is of mountains and ski slopes free from these barriers, where disabled children, young people and adults can learn and take part alongside family, friends and peers. We enable disabled people to participate in adaptive skiing and snowboarding, helping them to transform their confidence, fitness, friendships and unlock their potential to enrich their quality and enjoyment of life.
