Earlier this year, The Guardian reported that children are living in ‘almost Dickensian levels of poverty’ and that homelessness is sharply rising. As Christmas approaches, your support will shine a light on the stories behind the statistics and help build hopeful futures through the power of theatre.

Rising numbers of people facing homelessness are being denied dignity, visibility, and connection. As more are forced into homelessness and support services shrink, responses often stop at survival. But rebuilding a life takes more: space to heal, grow confidence, and feel a sense of belonging. As stigma and division deepen, society faces a desperate lack of empathy, understanding, and shared spaces where real change can take root.

‘The best thing in my life at the moment’, is how one Cardboard Citizens participant describes our workshops. For 30+ years, we’ve used theatre to help people facing homelessness build confidence, find belonging, and reclaim their stories. We share authentic stories with public audiences to humanise homelessness and foster understanding. Your support amplifies these voices, breaking stigma, inspiring empathy, and opening doors to healing and lasting change.
