Hospice Ethiopia is a non-government organisation and receives no funding from within Ethiopia, funding specialist nurses is crucial to enable Hospice Ethiopia to continue their vital work. Our aim is to fund the salaries of three palliative care nurses working at Hospice Ethiopia for 12 months.

Hospice Ethiopia (HE) is the only organisation dedicated to palliative care in Ethiopia, a country with a population of more than 127 million. Most people have no access to palliative care, so many die in pain, with distressing, uncontrolled symptoms, lacking basic drugs and specialist care. It is essential that funding is provided to enable Hospice Ethiopia to care for dying patients and deliver specialist training to Health Care Professionals across the country.
As the only dedicated specialist palliative care hospice in Ethiopia, HE has provided dignity, pain relief, and essential care to thousands of patients dying in Addis Ababa. Nurses are the core staff delivering this care. Additional funding will ensure the continued delivery of home-based palliative care and support HE’s vital training of health professionals, widening access across Ethiopia.
