Social mobility is crucial for business and for society, and widening access to professional careers is a great way of delivering social mobility. We achieve that by giving talented young people from low-income background that might otherwise miss out the opportunity access careers in accountancy.

Those from better-off backgrounds are almost 80% more likely to end up in a professional job than those from a working-class background. Accountancy has seen a particular decline in social mobility. Young people from low-income backgrounds are less likely to go to university and more likely leave due to the additional costs of studying. After graduation they often find accessing careers harder than more privileged peers. Even in professional training, the barriers persist. This must change.
We provide bursaries, grants, mentoring, internship opportunities and practical support to talented undergraduate accountancy and finance students with a household income of under £34,000. A financial commitment of up to £2500 a year often makes it possible for a student to start or stay on a degree programme. Practical support with mentoring and careers helps young people make the most of their potential so that they can start their careers with their eyes open and their aspirations high.
