Mental health is a growing national concern, with 1 in 5 children experiencing mental health difficulties. Demand for support has reached record levels, with over 420,000 children receiving mental health treatment each month in England. Long waiting lists and inconsistent provision mean many children do not get help until they are in crisis. Families face increasing financial strain and private mental health services are out of reach. Place2Be supports children who would otherwise go without.
Pupils are supported by a dedicated Place2Be mental health professional, embedded in the school team and working closely with all stakeholders to promote emotional wellbeing. Children can grow resilience to navigate life's challenges both now and in the future. Support includes one-to-one counselling for children with complex needs, drop-in counselling sessions where any child can speak to a professional about what is worrying them, and advice for parents and school staff.
