Protecting tropical forests is vital to tackling climate change. Empowering Indigenous and local communities is the best way to preserve and restore forests. Funds will be used to support our forest partners to tackle deforestation, plant trees in Uganda and inspire Wales to take climate action.

Our planet is in a climate and nature emergency. Extreme weather events, such as flooding and droughts, are becoming commonplace. Meanwhile, in 2024 more than 6 million hectares of precious tropical forest were destroyed – three times the size of Wales. Evidence shows that greenhouse gases and deforestation are heating our planet and destabilising the climate. To limit this damage, we must drastically cut emissions and protect precious habitats and limit global warming to 1.5°C.
We believe empowering Indigenous and local communities is the best way to preserve and restore tropical forests. Funds raised will support our forest partners to tackle deforestation and grow trees. We will also work to empower communities in Wales to reduce our global deforestation footprint by promoting ethical food and deforestation free living. A focus will be on empowering young people and marginalised communities in Wales to have their voices heard.
