Right now our rivers are in crisis. It’s a bleak picture, but there’s so much we can do to turn this around. Our own health and wellbeing is intimately entwined with the health of our rivers. It is vital we act now at speed and scale to safeguard our riverscapes for the future.

Our rivers are facing an existential threat. Biodiversity has plummeted in recent decades. The way we manage our land has had terrible consequences for our rivers. We’ve changed their course & character, leaving them a shadow of their former selves. Our need for water & the changing climate means that our rivers risk being lost, especially our rare & precious chalk streams, drying at a rapid rate. At the same time extremes of weather mean that we’re facing ever increasing threats of flooding.
We take action for our riverscapes. We restore rivers, allowed to meander across their floodplain once again. We remove barriers so wildlife can move up & downstream as they need. We tackle Invasive Non-Native Species which threaten our native flora and fauna. Our River Guardians monitor water quality on each of our rivers - often the first to spot pollution & ensure action is taken. We work with schools & communities to inspire a love for our riverscapes, cherishing & protecting them together.
