Due to severe challenges such as war, conflict, displacement, and the growing impacts of climate change, many performers and creatives are unable to realise their potential in theatre, art, and performance. Others face urgent medical needs, have families to support, or are struggling with inflation and limited access to resources. These circumstances can halt creative careers and threaten livelihoods. That’s where we step in—providing crucial hardship grants when they are needed most.

SafetyCurtain provides hardship grants to performers and theatre-makers facing extreme challenges. We support individuals and groups who have nowhere else to turn, offering emergency funding to help them continue their creative work. Our trustees, with deep knowledge of the difficulties faced by international performers, proactively offer support and welcome unsolicited requests. In many cases, we are the only organisation able to provide immediate aid in times of crisis.
