While many services close for Christmas, Shout - the only free, 24/7 text service - and The Mix, the UK’s leading digital support for young people, stay open. Anxiety, loneliness and suicidal thoughts don’t take a holiday. If anything, they can get worse at this time of year.

“It's nice to know you’re not alone at Christmas and there is help and support in such difficult times, thank you” - Shout texter Over the festive season, negative feelings such as grief, loneliness or depression can be amplified. This takes place when many other services are winding down for the year and there is less support available for people who are struggling. More than a third of the people who reach out to Shout for support report having suicidal thoughts, and among young people using The Mix services, more than 40% tell us they are worried about relationships and family - issues that can feel especially difficult during the holidays.

Our 24/7 text support service, Shout, is free, confidential and available to anyone in the UK 365 days a year. Whatever issue a young person is facing, The Mix is always there for them. Our services are silent, anonymous and accessible. By donating to us now, your gift will be doubled, meaning you’re helping us to support even more people this winter and beyond - support that could be life-saving.
