Brain conditions affect 14.7 million people in the UK, and that number is growing fast. From epilepsy, Parkinson’s and stroke to brain tumours, dementia and more, these conditions devastate lives, affecting memory, movement, speech and personality. The National Brain Appeal works to change that.

Neurological conditions are the third most common cause of emergency hospital admissions, placing huge pressure on the NHS, yet these conditions remain under-researched, underfunded and poorly understood. With an ageing population and a higher prevalence of brain conditions associated with older age, it has never been more vital that we strengthen our commitment to finding innovative treatments and cures – changing outcomes for people today and transforming the lives of future generations.

We help provide exceptional care for people living with brain conditions by funding state-of-the-art equipment, building programmes and pioneering treatments at The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. Through the UCL Institute of Neurology we fund world-leading research, powering new treatments and delivering trailblazing services. By supporting both immediate patient care and long-term breakthroughs, we aim to relieve the pressure on our healthcare system and give hope to millions.
