The Clink Charity has a history of helping people in prison rebuild their lives. Our new Clink Café initiative focuses on prevention, helping young people who could be at risk of offending. It is dedicated to young people aged 16-25, where participants gain training, qualifications and support.

Something has gone wrong with the way we take care of our young people. Young adults make up 21% of the probation caseload in England and Wales and over two thirds of young people re-offend within 12 months of release from secure institutions. Young people from vulnerable groups are disproportionately likely to be propelled into the justice system and a potential life of crime. 42% of people in prison have been excluded from school. We are helping young people discover their potential.
The best way to help people in prison is to prevent them from being sent there in the first place, which is exactly what The Clink Café initiative is doing. This initiative has been proven highly successful and our intention is to replicate it nationally as part of our strategic plan to reach vulnerable young people across the UK. We also know that giving our students the opportunity to serve customers changes perceptions, transforms lives, creates second chances and breaks down barriers.
