Orangutans are listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss. Once ranging throughout Southeast Asia, orangutans are now only found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Habitat loss continues to be the major threat to the future of orangutans.

We help to actively conserve over 500,000 acres of tropical forest and 5,000 orangutans. Through habitat protection, we safeguard standing forest as a habitat for wildlife and as a carbon sink for climate change mitigation. Regular research on tropical ecology informs our conservation strategy; reforestation restores degraded habitat; orangutan rescues and reintroduction; education and outreach empower communities bordering the forest to be actively involved with conservation.
