Almost 1 in 7 young people aged 16-24 in England are NEET and within the borough of Wandsworth where we operate, the percentage of NEET young people is 4.1% higher than the London average. Many of the young people we work with are facing barriers to obtaining employment despite many attempts to gain it. Unemployment at a young age increases the likelihood of being unemployed and welfare-dependent later in life and NEET young people are more likely to become involved in anti-social activity.
We provide mentoring and employability training for 100 young people per year, and employment contracts for 50 young people per year. The young people we engage are supported in their development of employability skills and mentored in core social-emotional skills. We offer a hands-on experience in a professional environment, teaching practical and transferable employability skills. We provide individualised support to every young person and devote additional time to their long-term career goals
