Women’s Education Partnership supports women and girls in Sudan and South Sudan. Despite the war in Sudan, and instability in South Sudan, we continue to fund university scholarships (some studies are now online), adult literacy classes, and lately a school for refugee Sudanese children in Cairo.

In Sudan and South Sudan women and girls suffer massive disadvantages in education and life chances. Literacy is the lowest in the world, orphans struggle to get an education, disadvantaged students need support to enter university. A civil war has devastated Sudan, with massive refugee displacement problems; most schools & universities are closed, although some offer online tuition. South Sudan too is affected by violence, but we still support adult literacy and university courses there.
The war in Sudan has interrupted our normal programmes; our university scholars are dispersed and some have fled to neighbouring countries. But we remain in WhatsApp contact with 94 scholars and offer them English language courses online. Some have managed to continue their degree courses online. We support a school for 100 Sudanese refugee pupils in Cairo. In South Sudan we provide higher education courses to 51 scholars including some refugees from Sudan. We also fund adult literacy courses.
